About Antoine Bethea
Antoine Akeem Bethea (born July 27, 1984) is a retired American professional football player who played safety in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. He played college football at Howard University, a historically black college, and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. Bethea is notable for his durability, consistency, and leadership on defense throughout his career. Bethea began his NFL career as a starter with the Colts, where he played from 2006 to 2013. He contributed significantly to the team’s success, including winning Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears. Over his career, Bethea was selected to the Pro Bowl three times (2007, 2009, 2014), highlighting his status as one of the league’s top safeties. After the Colts, he played for the San Francisco 49ers (2014–2016), where he was named team MVP in 2014, and then for the Arizona Cardinals (2017–2018). Bethea finished his career with the New York Giants in 2019. Throughout his 14-year career, Bethea appeared in 193 regular season games, starting 184, and recorded over 1,200 tackles, ranking first among active players at one point.
